Nelson Cricket Launch new Women & Girls Strategy

Nelson Cricket Association (NCA) is proud to launch its Women & Girls Strategy 2024-25 – 2030-31, a dedicated strategy to grow and enhance female participation in cricket across the region. This strategy, developed in alignment with New Zealand Cricket and Central Districts Cricket Association, sets out clear objectives to ensure women and girls have more opportunities to engage with the sport at all levels.

At the heart of this strategy is a commitment to doubling participation in both traditional and modified cricket formats by 2030/31. Key goals include establishing a dedicated women & girls-only club competition, developing a structured pathway for player progression, and increasing the number of qualified female coaches. Additionally, NCA is setting its sights on becoming the “Home of Women’s Cricket in New Zealand”, reinforcing its leadership in growing the game.

To achieve these ambitions, NCA will focus on coach and leadership development, strong community engagement, and fostering club support. Between 2024-27, the emphasis will be on identifying and supporting female coaches, refining player pathways, and celebrating successes within the game.

This strategy represents a significant step forward for women's cricket in the Nelson region. With clear targets and a strong commitment, NCA is laying the foundation for sustained growth and success.
