Final Round of 110 overs Competition

Final Round of 110 overs Competition

It would take a huge meltdown by Car Company Stoke Nayland and an enormous victory by Wakatu to create any change in the status quo in the final round of the NCA 110 overs club cricket competition on Saturday. Stoke Nayland are currently 24 points clear of Wakatu and such is the points structure Wakatu would need to score over 200 runs, take nine wickets and win with a bonus point (winning by seven wickets or 100 runs).  They would also need to rely on Stoke Nayland getting tipped over and accruing less than two bonus points – i.e. do not take two wickets in the game and get rolled for less than 100 runs – highly unlikely.

Added to their challenge Wakatu are hosting the relatively well performed ACOB at Victory Square.  While ACOB suffered a slight glitch last weekend they have been solid throughout the season.  They can be inconsistent but all rounder Jake Milton is due back and he can be a match winner.  For Wakatu Campbell McLean is having a good trot and they enjoy the conditions at Victory.  Wakatu should be highly motivated to produce the goods though.

Car Company Stoke Nayland should complete the formalities against Wanderers/Motueka at Brightwater.  The home team are producing some good cricket at the moment but there is really no way they can deny Brendon Hodgson and his boys from lifting the silverware.

Nelson College are hosting WTTU at Ngawhatu.  WTTU have some very well performed players who will be disappointed with recent results.  They are better than this and have a number of dangerous individual performers.  College are in the midst of a heavy programme. As well as club play, in the last few weeks they have beaten Hutt International Boys School, Rathkeale College, Marlborough Boys High School, Christchurch Boys High School and St. Bedes College so have a number of players who are in good nick.  They will be using this fixture as a lead in to more big inter schools and the TPL play offs next weekend.

Note that all matches begin at the earlier time of 11 am.
