Round 4 110-Overs
The penultimate round of the NCA 110 overs club cricket competition takes place this Saturday.
Nelson College will cap off a busy week with a real test against competition leaders Car Company Stoke Nayland at Marsden Rec. College have hosted their annual Quadrangular tournament this week so the schoolboys will either be in good nick or will be exhausted. Stoke Nayland are the competition highflyers though and although they are without their regular and inspirational skipper Brendan Hodgson his loss will be well compensated for by the inclusion of the ever reliable and popular Chris Bayard. They will still rate themselves to do the business here.
The battling WTTU will be hoping to re-group as they welcome ACOB to Jubilee Park in Richmond. WTTU have been struggling for form of late so will be looking for individuals to take some responsibility for their own performances. ACOB had a tight loss last Saturday against Stoke Nayland and they will be smarting from that. They still have title aspirations, though their chances in this competition appear minimal. All they can do is control the controllable so will be out to achieve maximum points.
Wakatu are sitting in second place and if they can force a big result against Wanderers/Motueka at Victory Square they can keep the pressure on the leaders. Campbell McLean and Fergus Hughes have both been performing well and they were well boosted by a scintillating Devon Serrurier ton last week. Wanderers/Motueka are improving every week and will fancy their chances against Wakatu. Jack White is bowling really well though he will require a bit more run support. This may well be the match of the day.
