TPL Round 7 Preview
Following a rain affected weekend of cricket last Saturday the TPL enters round seven this week hoping for better weather. The only round six winners Car Company Stoke Nayland, will be heading to nearby Ngawhatu to take on Nelson College. Nelson College old boy Paddy Howes is in dynamic form and the schoolboys will need to be on high alert when he is around. Stoke Nayland are dominating the grade with both bat and ball and the expectation would be that Saturday will not be an exception. It could be a tough day at the office for College, but they will welcome back Central Districts debutant Jarrod McKay.
The other team to get a full day in last week were WTTU – albeit on the wrong side of the ledger. One loss does not however make them a weak team and they will look to rebound against a stuttering Wakatu team at Victory Square. Tom Cross has been scoring runs at will and is about due to ton up. The shorter boundaries at Victory may just aid his case.
Wanders/Motueka will hope to continue their resurgence against the powerful Dolphins at Horton Park in Blenheim. The home team boasts Prabodha Arthavidu, Josh Poole and Joseph Timms who will all be looking to continue their good form after a week in abeyance.
ACOB also travel over the hill to take on the Falcons. Both teams got in minimal time last Saturday so will have been battling away in the nets throughout the week. Hopefully ACOB’s Jack Milton has not lost his touch after the lay off nor Matthew Stretch for the Falcons. They are both in outstanding nick so it will be interesting to see how they both fare.
As usual all matches begin at 11:30 am.
